Hello guys! I’m going to walk you through how you can create and use accordion in HTML without requiring a CSS code or JavaScript. An “accordion” in HTML is a UI pattern that helps organize content into collapsible sections.
This is particularly useful for pages with a lot of information, allowing users to expand or collapse sections to reveal or hide content as needed. Accordions are often used for FAQs, product details/segments, or navigation menus in an HTML website.
Here’s an example of HTML Accordion:

In other words, Accordions define additional content that users can open and close on demand in groups, usually used for a list of questions or FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions).
Accordion HTML Code
Although there is no dedicated accordion
HTML tag, accordions can be created using div
, section
, or details
tags along with JavaScript and CSS for functionality and styling. Here’s a basic structure:
<div class="accordion">
<div class="accordion-item">
<button class="accordion-header">Section 1</button>
<div class="accordion-content">
<p>This is the content for section 1.</p>
</div>
</div>
<div class="accordion-item">
<button class="accordion-header">Section 2</button>
<div class="accordion-content">
<p>This is the content for section 2.</p>
</div>
</div>
</div>
CSS and Javascript
CSS is used to style the accordion and to hide/show content. JavaScript is often added to handle the toggling action, though HTML elements like details
and summary
can be used for a basic accordion without JavaScript:
<details>
<summary>Section 1</summary>
<p>This is the content for section 1.</p>
</details>
<details>
<summary>Section 2</summary>
<p>This is the content for section 2.</p>
</details>

Benefits of Using Accordions
Accordions helsp to save spaces in the sense that collapsible sections reduce clutter on the page. It also improves user experience (UX) in a way that users can navigate to specific content sections quickly on your page.
In a nutshell, Accordions work best for organizing FAQs, menu items, product features, or any expandable/collapsible content. They’re particularly useful for content that doesn’t need to be displayed all at once, keeping the user interface clean and easy to navigate.
