The Relationship DNA Test is when two individuals are medically analyzed to determine whether they share a biological relationship, such as parent-child, siblings, grandparent-grandchild, or other familial connections, by comparing their DNA profiles for genetic markers.
There are many Relationship DNA Testing Methods but I will be emphasizing on four most that’s very common in Nigeria. Let’s dive straight into it.
- Personal Paternity, popularly known as Peace of Mind, DNA Test: This DNS test cost between N200,000 to N450,000 depending on the medical lab you're performing it.
- Prenatal Paternity DNA Test: Prenatal or Non-Invasive Paternity DNA Test is the Relationship DNA Test that’s used to determine whether the said Father a Fetus is indeed the biological father of the baby. This DNA Test cost between 2 million naira to 3.5 million naira, depending on the medical lab you’re performing the procedure.
- Immigration DNA Test: This relationship DNA testing is strictly for immigration purposes. The procedure involves collecting a simple mouth swab sample from the alleged father and the child and the cost ranges between N300,000 to N600,000 depending on the medical laboratory you’re carrying out the test.
- Legal Paternity DNA Test: Like Immigration DNA Test, Legal Paternity DNA Test price ranges between N300,000 to N600,000, also depending on the standard of the medical laboratory you are using. The standard simple mouth swab sample is also used to carry out the DNA test but in a situation whereby the individuals cannot be present, other types of samples (like hairs, bloodstains, fingernails, clothes e.t.c.) can be used but will incur for addition fees that ranges from N300,000 to N600,000.
