U.S. Department of Justice wants Google to Sell Chrome to End Search Monopoly

Although, many people agree that Google has too much power but will selling Chrome ends Google’s search monopoly?

To end Google’s unlawful monopoly over how Americans search the web, the US Department of Justice wants the tech company to perform the following tasks:

  1. The DoJ wants Google to end its lucrative partnership with Apple.
  2. DoJ wants Google to disclose a wealth of exclusive data to competitors and advertisers.
  3. Wants Google to promptly and fully divest Chrome.

Chrome is the most used tools to explore the Google’s search engine and that controls over half of the US market. So, the United States government wants Google to sell Chrome to a buyer it approves, contending that the divestiture would “pry open the monopolized markets to competition, remove barriers to entry, and ensure there remain no practices likely to result in unlawful monopolization.”

Even though people agree that Google has too much power, critics and former executives don’t agree on how, or if, competition can actually be improved. Do you think selling Chrome will be enough to pit an end to Google’s search monopoly? Let’s know your thoughts in the comments section.
